  1. Add another option to the "report this as abusive or offensive" like "report this as a problem/error". For example

For example today there was a video post: English / inglés nativo, inglés verdadero by martamoya1996 asking for English transcription. But the video has English subtitles, so asking someone else to transcribe it in English isn't needed. Not offensive or abusive but not really an appropriate request either but there is no way to report that easily.

  2. Punish leechers.

    Highlight active users, helpful users, and handicap users who take help but don't transcribe themselves. Most of my postings haven't been transcribed, but there doesn't seem to be a way to improve the chances of them getting done.

  3. are allowed to download your audio requests

    I guess quite a few of us would like to download our own requests without paying additional credits for that. The point of the recording is for practice, and I guess I'm not alone in wanting to have the recording available on my mp3-player. Why pay more for a recording which was done for us?

    Ability to pause whilst recording. So that you can give your mouth a rest whilst working on a particularly long submission.

  7. Establish groups to help people find language partners

    I think it would be great to establish groups to help people find language partners (for Skype etc.) and maybe even small lessons created by users such as pronunciation guides/ do's don't etc. which can have audio created by the poster.

  9. Accept recordings from Windows 10 default Voice Recorder

    It produces m4a

    The default browser on W10 is Edge and Silverlight does not work on it.

    As Win 10 is presumably the most common OS on new computers it would be good not to have to hunt around for software.

  10. Vote for the quality of recordings

    Many recordings I've search for the language I'm studying end up being bad quality of either tape or speaking (and I don't mean speaking fast, I was listening to some recordings in my native language too, and sometimes I could barely catch what they were saying!), which is very frustrating trying to find one I'd be satisfied with. If people would be able to vote on the quality/clarity of other's recordings, maybe there would be less people just mumbling through the text while earning credits for a bad recording. Or a catch of earning an extra credit, if your recording…

  11. Record your own texts, not only requests

    I would love to record more with my native language Finnish, but there is not much demand. If it would be possible to record less common languages without someone requesting it, I could record my own material, and help people searching for Finnish recordings in the future. It's also not easy to get credits, when there are not many requests.

  12. Allow "priority" gigs. Have them both cost more credits and rewarded with more credit. I would gladly pay more for quick completion

    Double the cost of priority requests. Prioritize them in the que and/or make the reward greater for those who complete them.

    Members like me who have time sensitive gigs would gladly pay more for quick turn around times.

  13. Block people (prevent a friend from answering your request)

    I know it's harsh and everybody is trying its best, but sometime (because of the microphone, regional accent, unusual pronunciation) the quality of the contribution is bad or does not match our expectations.
    We need to be able to block some people that prevents us to get answers from contributors we consider more valuable to us.

    Throwing some ideas to ease my suggestion:
    Perhaps it should always be given a reason to let the other know what to correct (if it's microphone related for instance). It could be also limited to a fixed number of people (perhaps no more than…

  14. Allow native speakers to hide certain requests from their queue

    I am from Brazil and speak Portuguese. The problem I've come is that sometimes I already made a bunch of recordings and I have to skip a lot of them which asks specifically for European Portuguese. I don't record for these requests just so they can stay in the top of the queue for someone who is able to speak this variety of the language. But since there's no option to hide them, it ends cluttering my own queue of requests to record and I have to keep paying attention to which requests I ignored because they were from a…

  19. Let users trim long recordings to just desired vocab/phrase

    I wanted to know how to pronounce 頂点 (ちょうてん). It's in the recording at https://rhinospike.com/audio_requests/aquaadragon/11822/, but every time I forget the pronunciation and want to hear it again, I don't want to waste 2 minutes clicking back and forth in that audio track trying to find the particular part it's in. Let me turn 頂点 into its own Japanese Audio Request type thing, and select just the part of the already-available track that contains this vocab. Then in the future when I search for 頂点, let me see both the recording with just that vocab, and also the original…

  20. Award credits by word count rather than by recording.

    Hi! New user, love the idea--just a quick suggestion: As you know, people come here to place requests, and placing their requests requires credits. Since any recording is worth one credit--no lmatter how long or short--users will naturally do only low-word-count recordings. If credit were based on word count, say 50 words equals a credit, then this would motivate users to tackle the longer recordings. As things stand, I suspect that my four-hundred-word audio request may languish in the queue forever. Thanks!
